SPRING SUMMER 2020 PRE COLLECTION
This collection is an irreverent interpretation of the Rykiel spirit and attitude. Parisian tailoring, reinterpreted knits and stripes, masculine and feminine, a new take on the codes of the house.
The collection explores new interpretations of ease and elegance that are recognizably Rykiel. Classic wardrobe pieces return with a contemporary slant: a day-to-night tuxedo jacket paired with tailored shorts; a scoop-backed minidress in red cotton drill; fine-gauge knits with sexy cut-outs, 3D intarsia sweaters and tabard-style woven outer layers; a fitted skirt with low exaggerated cargo pockets; a donkey jacket with high-gloss black patches. Volume suggests insouciance: elongated, wide trousers, balloon sleeves, an oversized floppy bow. Silhouettes emphasize all-around comfort, from vented sweaters to a seasonless trench. The palette is graphic: black, ivory, crisp red, navy and utility blue.
The true Rykiel spirit continues: from polka dots and lucky charms (ladybugs, four-leaf clovers, dice) to embossed plastic rain coats. Unlined felted jackets boasting flat fringe, tipped red as though dipped in paint, coexist with a 70s floral print seen on a quilted jacket or shirtdress. This is the mix of old and new Rykiel.
New knit bags seize on the strongest Rykiel signature of all. Using a vintage style jacquard weave, largely unstructured yet functional, the offer ranges includes an oversized envelope clutch. a tote, a roll and a cross body. Other new bags include an extra-large clear plastic shopper boasting the dice charm motif, and another shopper in sleek black vinyl. Both balance the modern Rykiel wardrobe, one of glamour and street, rendering it as relevant as ever.
